Dr. Trevor Miranda OD
When I first opened the doors of my optometric practice in Mill Bay in the winter of 1997 with one staffer and one exam room, little did I realize how rapidly our practice and the profession of optometry would evolve.
We now serve all communities in the Cowichan Valley with Optometric Clinics in Cobble Hill, Chemainus and Lake Cowichan. Many of our patients come from Duncan and even Victoria for their annual eye exam.
We have added diagnostic technology such as Optomaps to provide very early detection of eye diseases such as macular degeneration and glaucoma. We are using telemedicine to co-manage our patients with Ophthalmology eye doctors to provide timely consults and a professional opinion on patient care. Optometry’s scope has greatly expanded.
We can prescribe therapeutic pharmaceuticals for treatment of eye diseases. Red eyes, glaucoma, conjunctivitis and macular degeneration are just some of the medical conditions we manage in our clinics. Our Dry Eye boot camp gives our patients the tools to manage and treat dry eye disease.
We are proud to have five doctors of optometry on our team and many opticians and optometric technicians. This allows access for patients on evenings and weekends and allows our doctors to take some vacation time to enjoy our beautiful area. Our clinics all have Sunglass Cove areas with a lovely selection of sunwear on Vancouver Island. We have partnered with Resonance Hearing clinic to provide access to hearing care and aids at all three of our offices.
I am excited about the future of optometry and we are all dedicated to provide the latest in eyewear, fashion, contact lenses, sunwear and diagnostic and treatment for eye diseases.
