Cowichan Eyecare in Cobble Hill received the Bronze award for participation in Optometry Giving Sight's World Sight Day Challenge!
Optometry Giving Sight is an organization that aims to transform the lives of over 600 million people who are blind or vision impaired because of a simple lack of access to proper eye examinations and a pair of glasses. Optometry Giving Sight helps train local eye care professionals and establish vision centres, so that quality eye care and affordable eyeglasses can be provided in communities where these services do not currently exist.
Since 2007 more than $10 million have been allocated or disbursed to 72 projects in 38 countries thanks to Optometry Giving Sight, and 2014 saw many highlights, including tens of thousands of children being screened and given glasses where needed in Soweto Africa, El Salvador and Tanzania.
We were very humbled and honoured to be a part of this incredible international effort to fight blindness and vision loss and are very excited to accept our Bronze Award from Optometry Giving Sight!
